Mexican Vacation Rental -- Casita Chuparosa

Weekly Observations
Jun 5 - 11, 2005

Another week and still no rain. The Gringos are becoming increasingly ornery, the Mexicans increasingly depressed. It is still very hot. The week began as last week ended, with highs near 100°F. and lows of about 60°F. The last couple days of the week things cooled slightly at night, with lows in mid-50°s F. The evening breezes have been stronger, but not a drop of rain and very few clouds. The Lirio (Water Hyacinth) on the lake is blooming nicely. The mountains are still brown, with only a few splotches of perennial greens. This is the latest wet season of my brief experience.

At least San Antonio Tlyacapan is able to celebrate their patron's festival without getting rained out. There are castillas (firework towers) every night now, leading up to the climax on Monday, June 13th. Lets hope St. Anthony brings some rain for his saint's day, or we may have to turn to Tlaloc, the Aztec, Toltec and Teotihuacan rain god.
